The Federation is a membership-based Charity set up to support its locally based and independent Members who develop and provide mental health services in their community.

We formed ourselves as a result of a Forum organised by the Matthew Trust in the House of Lords in February 1996. More than 120 representatives of 86 agencies attended and agreed that the Federation should be formed. As many again wrote in with support after that meeting, and at our peak achieved 250 voting and associate members who in total represent more than 150,000 service users in the UK.

The Federation is incorporated as a Company limited by Guarantee (number 3236769) and is a registered Charity (number 1058342)

DO HELP OUR UNFUNDED CHARITY!

The UK Federation does not usually support petitions from other organisations. But the Mental Health Bill is a bad one and even though we make our representations via the Mental Health Alliance much more opposition to this bill would be a good thing. Do look at the petition from bruised.org
