REPORT OF COUNCIL
FOR THE SEVEN MONTHS ENDED 31 MARCH 1998
The Trustees submit their report and accounts for the
seven months ended 31 March 1998.
Review of Activities and Future Developments
The company promotes the preservation and protection of
good health of people with mental health needs. The company is a registered
charity.
Results
The company made a surplus on its ordinary activities
of £10762 (twelve months to 31 August 1997 - £6378). Under
the articles no distribution can be made and the surplus is forwarded to
future years.

The Trustees who acted as directors during the seven months to 31 March 1998 were:

Statement of Directors' Responsibilities (continued)
The Directors are responsible for keeping proper accounting
records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial
position of the company and to enable them to ensure that the financial
statements comply with the Companies Act 1985. They are also responsible
for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable
steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
In preparing this report, the directors have taken advantage
of special exemptions applicable to small companies conferred by part II
of Schedule 8 to the Companies Act 1985.

In the directors' opinion the company was entitled under
section 249A(1) of the Companies Act 1985 to exemption from the audit of
its accounts for the seven months ended 31 March 1998. No member of the
company has deposited a notice under section 249B(2) requiring an audit
of these accounts.
The directors are responsible for ensuring that the company keeps accounting
records which comply with section 221 of the Act and for preparing accounts
which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company
as at the end of each financial seven months and of its profit or loss
of each seven months in accordance with the requirements of section 226
of the Act and which otherwise comply with its requirements, so far as
applicable to the company.
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the special provisions
of Part VII of the Companies Act 1985 relating to Small Companies and the
Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities.

cost convention.
b Grants are stated after taking into account amounts
due but not received or paid.
c The company is exempt from the requirement under Financial
Reporting Standard No 1 to prepare a statement of cash flows on the grounds
that the company qualifies as "small" within the definitions

Accountants' report to the Directors
As described on the balance sheet, the directors are responsible for the preparation of the accounts for the seven months ended 31 March 1998 as set out on pages 2 to 5 and consider that the company is exempt from an audit and a report under section 249A(2) of the Companies Act l985. Jn accordance with their instructions, we have also compiled these unaudited accounts in order to assist them to fulfil their statutory responsibilities from the accounting records and information supplied to us.
