Community Mental Health Team 01344351850
Office hours only
(Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm)
You may have a 'Care Co-ordinator' who may be a CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse), a Social Worker or an Occupational Therapist. They are part of the Community Mental Health Team. They are responsible for working with you to work out what your needs are and how they can best be met.
During working hours normally the best person to turn to for help is your Care Co-ordinator, contacted via the Community Mental Health Team.
If you do not have a Care Co-ordinator, or yours is unavailable to help you as urgently as you think is necessary, there is a Duty Worker based at Time Square available between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday). You can phone Duty (01344 351500) to make an appointment or just turn up and ask for them at the reception in Social Services/Housing on the ground floor at Time Square. If you are too unwell to come into Time Square the Community Mental Health Team will arrange for someone to come out to you.
Emergency Duty Team 01344 488495
Out of office hours - after 5pm, weekends and Bank Holidays.
You will either speak immediately, or be phoned back by a qualified Social Worker with experience in mental health.
They will listen to you and help you to work out your needs and how those needs can be met.
In some cases they may be able to come and see you at home.
They will be able to offer you advice and may be able to make arrangements (eg an urgent appointment with your Care Co-ordinator) which make you feel that you can cope until then.

If you are speaking to a doctor covering for your GP they will probably know nothing about you. If you think that you may need to be admitted to hospital you should say that you have a serious mental health problem, that you are known to the Community Mental Health Team and you want to see the duty psychiatrist at Heatherwood.
The doctor covering for your GP will know a lot more about medicine than you, but he or she will know a lot less about your illness.
