On the Side Publications currently provides five views of three directories:

  1. The Mental Health Employment Network membership directory. This lists 90 organisations around the UK.

  2. The UK Federation of Smaller Mental Health Agencies membership directory. This lists 260 organisations around the UK.

  3. The directory of disability related employment projects produced as a by product of research conducted for the Department of Work and Pensions by Hilary Arksey and others from the University of York. The full Microsoft Access, Word and Excel directories can be obtained from the Department, but is presented here via the same interface that we use for the membership databases.

The DWP directory covers to Mental Health , but we think it worthwhile presenting the full set of 2520 organisations it covers. Some of our readers may prefer to access either the subset of 943 employment organisations supporting people with mental health needs (many of which also cater for learning difficulties or other disabilities) or the subset of 1544 who support people with either mental health needs or learning difficulties or both.

These three directories are especially relevant to the small organisations to which On the Side Publications was set up to assist, because small organisations need access to information which only other organisations, small or large can provide. Thus, we hope that simply having on line access to details about other organisations will enable small organisations to locate people who may have similar problems ir ambitions. This will lead to interchange either directly or via one of the many umbrella groups such as MHEN, and UKFSMHA who focus on small groups.

Accuracy

These are third party directories, in that the data was collated by the originating organisation. On the Side has devoted its efforts to making this work available more widely and in the process of doing so many inconsistencies have been eliminated, but the intrinsic quality of the information is that of the originating organisations, to whom we are most grateful. We are not able to commit to seeking up to date details from the organisations who appear in the directories, but we will pass on to the originators any corrections we receive and indeed would be most grateful for any corrections or additions that are sent to us, by email, please. Where we can, we will update the details we have published.

Finding an organisation

Please refer to our separate find page for suggestions on browsing through these directories .

We would be delighted to receive any corrections to the information, some of which is already quite old.
